Picasa web

PicasaRecently, I’ve made a Picasa Web Album account to store and share some of my pictures. I decided to abstain from using flickr because signing up was a major pain in the ass. Creating an account at Yahoo is a lot more complicated and takes more time than I last remember. Also I can’t seem to figure out how to use an email other than the yahoo id assigned to me.

Well, so here’s my album. I uploaded the photos I had taken from a recent visit to Vancouver. Enjoy!

No internet access

Recently I’ve been having some major problems with my internet connection. The *nice* people at Rogers are attempting to help me through the problem but so far there has been no success. This is mainly the reason why I haven’t been posting consistently over the past few days. Who know how long this will take so you may not see me online (or as regularly since I can use friend’s computers) for a while.

iPhone Unlocked

Now that the iPhone has been unlocked AT&T is coming down hard on those people. Which is understandable since they want that monopoly. But eventually there really isn’t anything they, or anyone can do. As long as people need, it will be given. They are a few companies, they have no hope standing against the millions (they’re not Spartans) who will fight for freedom to use their pieces of technology how they want to use them. This applies to anything where people are oppressed such as bittorrent, cracks etc.

Suprnova put it best:

“This is how it works. Whatever you sink, we build back up. Whomever you sue, ten new pirates are recruited. Wherever you go, we are already ahead of you. You are the past and the forgotten, we are the internet and the future.”

Social WebsitesI was actually planning on adding this a week ago but I kept blowing it off.

Today I figured that enough is enough and added the option to add my posts to social bookmarking websites. The current websites are: Digg, Ma.gnolia, Del.icio.us, Reddit, Technorati and Slashdot.

Simply click on the icons below the ‘Share and Enjoy:’ text in order to submit Virial Theorem to a social bookmarking website. Send me an email if you wish to see a specific social bookmarking website below.

We want them to steal ours

This quote just cracks me up:

About 3 million computers get sold every year in China, but people don’t pay for the software. Someday they will, though. As long as they are going to steal it, we want them to steal ours. They’ll get sort of addicted, and then we’ll somehow figure out how to collect sometime in the next decade. ~ Bill Gates

An amazing guitarist

Yesterday evening, I went to a party with a group of friends. It was sort of a reunion of sorts since most of us hadn’t seen each other in over 3 years. The whole experience was rather fun, catching up with people, getting introduced to the few new people I hadn’t met, it was really great.

Perhaps the highlight of the day was this one person who I hadn’t met before, named Taha. He’s 17 and is heading to grade 12 and this guy is simply amazing with the guitar. Although in the beginning people were listening to music from the stereo, soon he started taking requests and playing almost any song that people asked of him.

At one point we got to talking and I learned that we have similar interests, especially in music. Much like me he enjoys most types of music but his passion lies in rock. I asked him to play a couple of different songs; Master of Puppets, Lonely End of the Rink, The Razor’s Edge and a few other songs. He then proceeded to play some Pink Floyd music and a few other bands I hadn’t even heard about. He even played some of his own original music which was quite good.

I’m not really sure why I’m even blogging about this. Most likely the reason is because I was just blown away by his musical prowess and talent.

The Cult of Mac

cult of macWhen I saw this book at Chapters I was instantly taken by it. This is just so cool. If I ever decide to cut my hair that short I’m getting the apple logo shaved on the back of my head!

The book discusses the devotion that people hold for apple and their products. It’s rather interesting covering how and where the adoration stemmed from and the possibilities as to where it is headed. Of course I didn’t read the whole book, just skimmed through it. If had actually brought money with me I would have bought it.

Graphic design shortcuts

I’ve always seen people creating tutorials on how to easily and quickly create something in Photoshop or GIMP. However recently there has been a huge increase in these types of tutorials and people asking for quick solutions and as a graphics artist I cannot help but feel bothered about it.

My problems with Ajax

About a month ago I had decided to buy a book called Head Rush Ajax. As you can probably figure out, the book teaches one all about Ajax and how to properly implement it onto ones website. I finished the book around a week ago when I came to a rather sad realization.

One of the major parts of Ajax is javascript. And although the book does go through some basic javascript, and it is helpful for incredibly small and meaningless Ajax-based tasks, without a thorough knowledge of javascript there really isn’t much else you can do. Another part of Ajax is XML. And once again, although the book does cover the basics there really isn’t a lot you can put into practical use. The book basically explains how to use the two languages, combine them together (as well as other aspects such as the DOM) for creating and learning about asynchronous applications.

I suppose my next order of business would be to get more adept at javascript and xml.

SuprNova: Page Not Found

As most people should know by now, The Pirate Bay relaunched Suprnova.org earlier today. I used to use Suprnova.org for a lot of my, strictly legal, downloads and was really sad to see them go. So you can imagine my excitement when it was announced that Suprnova.org would relaunch today.
